The Fibonacci Series
Fibonacci was an Italian mathematician - the popularisation of the Indian and Arabic numeral system in Europe is credited to him. The pattern called the "fibonacci series" and the "golden ratio" was one such concept used by Indian mathematicians - it was named after Fibonacci when he popularised it in Europe.
This pattern repeats itself in nature and in life: in the rings of trees, in petals of flowers,in breeding of rabbits, in building the Parthenon in Athens and the Pyramids of Giza, in the face of Mona Lisa and remarkably in the movement of financial markets.
Being part of the financial world, I studied Fibonacci for years.
Traveling on business, I saw art collections across the world. As an artist, my mind seeks numeric patterns in my painting.
And so this series on Fibonacci was conceived. This series is still in progress. The paintings exhibited here are in Fibonacci numbers: Two are studies on paper. Three are studies on Canvas. There will be five paintings in this series - still in progress.
It is an attempt to tie in 3 concepts:
My experience in trading financial markets. The aesthetically pleasing symmetry of a golden ratio. My origins in India.
